        Thomas Airey was the resident engineer to Clifton Suspension Bridge during its construction, 1861-1864, and worked as a consultant engineer for the bridge in the years afterwards, at which point he appears to be living and working at times abroad. Civil engineer lists record that he was Breslan and at Aird's in Danzig (Netherlands) and at Monk Heseldon, Castle Eden Coliery Co., Durham in 1873 and in 1878 in Stockport.
