Biographical history
Lavars was listed as a lithographer taking part in the procession to mark the opening of Clifton Suspension Bridge on 8 December 1864. He was known for printing in 1887 a panoramic view of Bristol produced from plate glass camera photographs taken from a tethered balloon 2,000 feet above the city. He also worked from 18 Bridge Street, Bristol and also exhibited models of his invention - a floating buoyant settee, for the decks of passenger steamers - during the Great Exhibition of 1851.
