Printed on reverse: "This fine bridge crosses the Avon Gorge with a single span of 702 feet, at a height of 245 feet above high water. Its total weight is 1,500 tons and it is estimated to be capable of supporting a weight of nine tons per square inch. Designed and begun by Brunel in 1832, it was not completed until 1864"
